Kids Corporation was founded in 1971 with a mission to nurture Newark's children through programs and services that bolster academic skills, promote healthy development and stimulate a love of learning.  Our goal is to identify and supply the necessary tools to prepare elementary school children for learning; then put them into invigorating classroom settings.  We operate after-school and summer academic programs in every ward of the City and provide books, coats, medical exams and follow-up care, school supplies, eyeglasses and educational adventure trips to over 4,500 students.  Our urban education programs are cost-effective and achieve tangible academic, medical and developmental results.

 Kids Corp makes learning practical, fun and meaningful.  We achieve our success by coordinating numerous existing resources and through hard work.  In cooperation with various colleges, foundations, corporations and community groups, Kids Corp provides Newark’s children with the opportunity to satisfy their natural thirst for knowledge. 

Children who cannot read, write, add or subtract will not have the opportunity to find meaningful employment. Children who cannot see properly or who are chronically ill or hungry cannot learn. Children without positive role models are much more likely to lose their focus and not understand their responsibilities to themselves and others.  Kids Corporation has real answers to these problems and we believe a bright future is possible for every child in Newark.
